Manchester United chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to open a fresh investigation into the causes of the club’s injury crisis this season.

It has been part of the conversation for months and now United have reported over 60 cases of injury or illness this season, with star players missing chunks of the season such as Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw.

United manager Erik ten Hag is under pressure to keep his job and the ongoing injury crisis has done anything but help him in his second season in charge. There is no getting away from the fact United have underachieved – but we still have an FA Cup final to look forward to later this month. The less said about our opponents at Wembley the better.

Ten Hag’s inability to field a consistent aide, particularly in defence, has seen United crash out of the Champions League and slump to eighth in the Premier League table.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants a fresh look at the injury issue, as per The Mirror.

There has been no improvement in the situation since his £1.3 billion investment in United at the start of 2024, so it only makes sense that he would investigate the matter further if he wants to get to the bottom of it ahead of next season.

The INEOS billionaire believes more can be done to prevent such a flurry of injuries and will commission a thorough investigation into the issue that has turned United’s season upside down.

That investigation will include a look at Ten Hag’s training methods, schedules and how intense his sessions have been. The running distances will also be looked at.

Harry Maguire was recently sidelined for three weeks after sustaining an injury blow in training. It remains to be seen if he will be fit for the FA Cup final.

United have missed out on Champions League football for next season and it remains to be seen if we’ll have involvement in any European competition. The Reds could finish as low as 10^th in the Premier League if results don’t improve, with Newcastle and Chelsea now above them.
