It’s fair to say that Adam Idah’s arrival at Celtic wasn’t greeted with too much enthusiasm…

We were craving an experienced name to challenge Kyogo for the striking spot and a guy who couldn’t get a regular start for Norwich City didn’t exactly sit well with the supporters.

But to Adam’s credit he has proved the doubters wrong by scoring an impressive eight goals in 14 games thus far despite only starting a handful of games.

Compare and contrast with Norwich’s loan signing Sydney van Hooijdonk who made the move to Carrow Road from Italian side Bologna in the closing days of the January window, but failed to hit the back of the net.

And quite a few of Adam Idah’s goals have proved crucial in our title win. He hit a brace apiece at Easter Road and Fir Park, both of which proved to be vital in the long run.

There was also the small matter of a goal at Ibrox that again proved pivotal in the destiny of the title.

Adam also struck a goal in the 5-0 win that clinched the title at Rugby Park on Wednesday night. It wasn’t just his goal but his all round performance that had all the Celtic supporters saying the same thing, which was get him signed up permanently.

Adam has the makings of a good all round striker. He can hold the ball up and link others into play as well as being strong in the air and most important of all, he knows the way to goal.

Norwich are apparently wanting close to £5 million for the Irish international, and judging by his short spell as a Celtic player, it’s well worth perusing.

Idah, and perhaps to a lesser extent Nicolas Kuhn, were Brendan Rodgers signings. The Irish striker was well known to Rodgers from his time at Leicester City and it’s to the manager’s credit that he brought in the Ireland international striker and despite the lukewarm reception to the news at the time, he’s gone on to prove himself and become hugely popular with the Celtic support.

Plenty of supporters were calling for Celtic to sign Sydney van Hooijdonk in January but there was no contact made by Celtic, as Rodgers instead wanted to bring Adam Idah in. A popular choice at the time it was not but a correct call from an elite football manager it certainly turned out to be.

Now it’s over to Michael Nicholson. Brendan said at his media conference that there was a Board Meeting yesterday morning and the transfer window will have been top of the agenda with the first name on Brendan’s list certain to have been Adam Idah.

Get it done Celtic.
