Our Game 1 simulation predicted the Thunder would win Game 1. Does 2K24 have what it takes to correctly predict two games in a row?

Mavericks vs. Thunder Conference Semi Finals Game 2 Results According To NBA 2K24

According to our NBA 2K24 Simulation the Dallas Mavericks will defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder 138-130 and tie the series 1-1. This high scoring affair saw both Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic dominate through all phases of the game. While Shai Gilgeous-Alexander also put up impressive number, he alone was unable to help his Thunder secure a 2-0 lead. In the end, Dallas managed to clean up their mistakes from Game 1 and win on the road.

TEAM Quarter 1 Quarter 2 Quarter 3 Quarter 4 FINAL
DAL 36 25 35 42 138
OKC 36 23 30 41 130

Despite a great offensive showing from the Thunder that saw them complete 60% of field goals, their defense was unable to stop Dallas. Excluding the second quarter, both teams scored 30+ points in every other quarter. This included an epic fourth quarter with a combined 83 points. While maybe not realistic, it certainly made for an entertaining matchup.

Honestly, the game was pretty close until when 47 seconds remained. Doncic’s layup put the Mavericks up 128-123, forcing the Thunder to constantly foul and hope for opportunities. Their effort to slip back into the lead fell apart soon after. Regardless, it made for a pretty entertaining and high scoring affair. For reference, it landed just outside the top 10 highest scoring postseason games in NBA history.

In terms of player performances, Kyrie Irving earned the game ball after dropping 64 points along with five assists and two steals. Furthermore, he converted 6-of-14 3PT attempts en route to victory. Additionally, Luka Doncic put up great numbers, scoring 29 points and adding 15 assists to his stat sheet. Overall, these two players’ combined efforts helped them in this high scoring matchup.

As for the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team in points (43) and assists (11). Additionally, Chet Holmgrem put up great numbers, earning 29 points and 13 rebounds throughout the contest. However, these two players alone were unable to help the Thunder win the game and extend their series lead. Additionally, they both only converted four of 12 combined three-point attempts.

With the win, the Dallas Mavericks manage to tie up the series 1-1, with their heads high as they head back home. Now, the team needs to make the most of out the next two games, where they’ll have home field advantage. The faster either team can win this series, the less the smaller the chance of injury and fatigue. Can the Mavericks quickly end the series? Or will OKC learn from their mistakes and adjust for round 3?

As for the Thunder, a close loss at home hurts, especially when the team needs to travel to Dallas for Games 3 and 4. However, they’ve played well enough not to warrant any panic or concern. Nevertheless, that still means they’ll need to win one, hopefully both games away in order to bounce back. We’ll see what SGA and co do in Game 3.

In terms of accuracy, we strive to make the simulations more accurate by adjusting CPU Sliders and editing lineups. Unfortunately, it’s hard to edit roster injuries when we only have access to the latest 2K Sports rosters, which don’t update right away. Furthermore, trying to create custom rosters only led to game crashes and technical glitches.

However, we’ll continue to improve our simulations to make them more realistic and entertaining. Whether this means attempting to create new rosters again, or adjusting more CPU sliders, we hope to make it a more enjoyable experience for you. And regardless, we just have a blast watching them.
